contemplating her late forties and wondering if...

one day
she will wear thigh highs
and 'smoke' in a sultry manner

one day
she will think that sex
is better than chocolate,
because someone was
unselfish,
and cared enough to
let her finish
what she started...

one day
she will relinquish
motherliness and become
a vamp
in leather
and

long,
long
sighs;

in disguise,

[of course]

one day

she will
matter more than she does
today

even though she knows

she is already

all woman...

I don't get it. You mean you're not already "wear[ing] thigh highs," and you mean you don't already know "that sex / is better than chocolate." And I assure you, it is a time-honored thing to be "a vamp / in leather / and / long, / long / sighs." I mean, those expressions just all summarized why Paris Hilton is so successful, not to mention Lindsay and pretty much everyone on The Hills.

Ah, poor poor Elaine. I think you need some Monte-time, so I can turn the inquiries into understandings. And too already know you're "all woman..."

Seriously, this lovely and meaningful poem richly deserved the accolades it already received in the comments, and by virtue of the golden trophy I see above. Outstanding poem.

      hi Monte
thank you for making me smile
i like that about a man... and you are clearly all man
I am a late developer but rest assured that there is hope -
Gilly and I are planning some vamp time on the streets of Manchester when it warms up enough for us to go out wearing as little as possible except for the thigh highs [also known in these parts as FMB's]

now that image should have everyone rolling in the aisles ...

the poem has many layers - unlike the clothing i am sure you dream of you naughty boy lol!

      thank you

Indeed, the poem does have many layers Elaine. However, I always prefer to focus on the one that is the most naked to my observations.

my mother told me the secret of women seven years ago.
though, i shan't say what that is, because it is better to keep a secret than blab it about.

    congrats on the gold....entirely deserved

This is interesting. I could write volumes about why I think this is interesting but I think it is best for me to just leave it at that.

    Excellent.

I think we all would like to crash through our daily rotes and molds to vamp it up. Excellent take on the prompt.

when days extend beyond your shadow
with fog of un born dreams
    stop to look beyond tomorrow
to decide how much is shallow
and if it belongs to something
    you are willing to swallow.

today you matter more than ever,
    tomorrow matters in evermore.

    its good.

woman? all and more i would bet.
