The sky is a particular shade of purple that I had not seen before,
and I don't recall it being that colour for, well, a long time.
I breath in.
The air is fresh and moist.
It must be morning.
I'm not sure why but I feel the need to bend over and pluck a blade of blue grass.
I play with it for a minute, dissecting it, watching the sap.
When I look up, she's there. I call her name.
"Sarah"
But she doesn't turn, she is staring off into the distance.
Off into the meadows on which we stand.
She starts to walk away.
I must catch her.
I jog, just a little, to catch up.
Her pace quickens. She starts to run.
I run too, thinking it's a game.
But still she hastens. Faster and faster.
This cat and mouse game with no cause.
She's running, and I see something fall.
She drops her inhaler.
Asthma
With out it, she'll be out of breath.
How can she be so careless?
I pick it up and run after her, calling her name.
"Sarah" "Sarah"
But still she runs.
Than, after a distance only measured in parsecs, she stops dead still.
I, however, am still running, at quite some speed.
I start to scream
"Look out"
And finally she turns.
I run into her.
Her arms clasp into my chest and shake me.
And she shakes me.
"You ok? You were having a nightmare"
"Huh wha?"
Slowly reality kicks in.
You were having a nightmare, she said.
How accurate. I kiss her gently.
"I was having a nightmare, but, I'm awake now."
Whilst I don't say it, I think to myself.
But I'm awake now. You woke me. You were what I was after.
You, my love, I was running for.
You woke me from my nightmare, and brought me to this dream.
