HEART AND SOUL SONGS
THE VALLEY OF THE FALLEN

Many people have given much for us to have what we have today, and sometimes we remember their sacrifices only on memorial day.
But for others we always keep them in our thoughts, out hearts, and our minds, and we never forget them when we pray.
Personally I have seen many memorials for the fallen and the sacrifices they made.
I have visited the Arizona memorial, the watery grave is a irry reminder of the price long since paid.
I have stood on midway island and seen the memorial of the men who gave their life's to hold that tiny piece of land.
I have had my heart broken as I looked upon the reflection pool and saw the memorials for each and every one lost, some big, some small, it is still way to much for a Oklahoma boy to stand!
I cried with the world as the towers fell.
And I wanted revenge just like everyone else, but what a price for that we have paid as well.
Each day more flag drapped coffins are flown to hometowns throughout our land.
And I personally think it is time for us to take a stand!
Bring our love ones home while we can still hug, hold, and kiss them.
Let's not wait until they join the valley of the fallen and we have another memorial to miss them!
May God bless our troups, and our leaders too!
Oh and may God bless the fallen's friends, family, wife's and kids please help them make it through.
May God bless us all and may we never forget any of the sacrifies made for centuries to give us the freedom we enjoy.
And please always remember their sacrifies for you owe them for your joy.
Sacrifies made by brave men, women and sometimes children all just for you.
People of all races! People to whom the only colors that mattered were the great RED, WHITE AND BLUE!
And with war raging everyday, more sacrifies our heros will be paying.
THE HIGH PRICE THATS BEEN PAID IN THE VALLEY OF THE FALLEN!

yeah i so agree with what you're saying in this poem. your own voice/tone/ideals came through superbly, the werent hidden behind a veil of simply anonymous verse.
thanks for entering. -
Wonderful i loved this because it was very well written with very good use of words. my favorite part was when you said "Personally I have seen many memorials for the fallen and the sacrifices they made. I have visited the Arizona memorial, the watery grave is a irry reminder of the price long since paid." good jobthanks for entering my contest i wish you the best of luck. ..<3.. Shelly

What a wonderful piece this is! What some people might not know is the war is over. We are only over there right now to protect the Iraqies from the Iranies and to help Iraq strengthen their gov't. BUT it is totally unnecessary for as many ppl to be ove there that are there right now. Personally, as a soldier myself, i wish they would bring some ppl home.
Wonderful post and thanks for posting in my contest. Best of luck at judging! -
Amen.
Thank you for this timely piece, I think we all feel this way today. And yes we should honor those fallen, just yesterday I learned of the death of a local man. But this piece is one to be proud of. Thank you for entering.
