At the end
Of a long, deserted road
I’ve found myself
In a chilling place
The hanging gardens
Where abandoned prayers
Echoes amongst the dangling feet
And the whistling wind
Whispers crushing self defeat
To my cringing ears
Walking the rows of soles
Of suspended souls
I can feel the piercing
From these meat hook realities
As the sound of fresh choking
Asphyxiates my besieged heart
I feel their weight
A dragging depression
That rips the being from its rind
My steps slow and stop
With a rustling sigh
I don’t even have to look
The twisted coil whispers
Bittersweet and sour rationalizations
Promising freedoms
To good to be free
A price, a toll
I’m not willing to die for
With a cleansing breath
I inhale the smoldering of fibers
As the rope incinerates
Continuing on the path
The ashes settle in my lungs
So lest I forget…
