Dreams of Rhianon

I'm leaving home, I'm going away
To find the dream of yesterday
Where within the castle wall there lies
A maiden fair who sits and cries
Whose songs would touch my very soul
And of my heart has taken toll
Her hair adorned with flowers sweet
And rings upon her tiny feet
Strumming the strings of a mandolin
I yearn for her to let me in
And whither she goes my heart will follow
Till the moon is nigh to meet tomorrow
Then comes the dusty truth of day
My ethereal love has flown away
Leaving me nought but hopes so true
Of finding my love in the morning dew
For she is a queen without a king
Who doesn't exist until I sing

This is very good! A sweet tale of love, written beautifully, simply, yet infused with hope and deep feelings.

    You're an excellent writer

I think this is my favourite so far! It's so whimsical and enchanting...and kind of melancholic at the same time. The last line just whispers the dream, the hope, the desire away in a simple breath. Yes, I do so like this.

Good luck in the contest! Hope you do well!

    love ya, Dari xxx
