The night was rainy
((Then again, It had been raining
nearly every minute for the past
seven days...))
The roads were wet
Like a long black snake
Waiting to claim its prey...
And the weather was cold
as a late December night
snuck it's way into April
"I'll be fine" she said
"It's not that bad" he retorted
But it was bad
And they both knew it
as they drove the three and a half miles
to the party on the other side of town
She kissed her dad for the last time
He held his mother for the final time
((And they both walked out the door))
Headlights
Casting ghostly, simmering lights
On the highway
By then black ice had formed
Coating the road in its deadly blanket
and the snake was waiting patient as ever
as they both took the turn too fast
((As teenagers often do))
&& hit the breaks so hard they both screamed
almost as loud as the two teens...
It wasn't until the next morning that someone walked by
and found both bodies, mangled and torn
holding onto eachother
for 'dear life'
((If you excuse using such an old term))
They say you can still see her
On late December nights in April
And he's never that far from her side...
You see...
Death brings everyone closer...
Author notes
I hope this isn't too morbid...
I looked at the picture and this story just popped into my head....
Enjoy....
