Poem Two

I traded in the city for a field of flowers,
Where I could become a blade of grass.
Suddenly, mountains burst from
the ground and grew,
Until they reached the sky,
Until they reached Saturn,
Until they were out of the galaxy,
Until they reached the end of the universe,
Until they tumbled,
    Down
                Down
                            Down
Back to earth and under my feet.
And I struck the match
To light the candle
In the center of the living room.
It was beautiful to see the shadows
Dancing along the walls.
It was beautiful to have you near me,
              my Friend,
As I sipped down my fourth glass
of green tea.
And we had a deep spiritual yearning
for sushi and for Riley Lee,
Equaled only by our fierce desire
for spiritual peace.
And still I believe in nothing,
If only because beliefs are too heavy
And I choose to live life unburdened.

Does that make me an egoist?
Perhaps it does,
But even that matters almost nothing
to me now.
And O'Hara asked, "Where is the night".
The night is here,
deep in my soul,
swallowing, consuming, and spitting out again.
I took a deep plunge into myself
before I wrote these words.
And even they I do not believe.

Now, I no longer put faith in perceptions,
But depend solely on reality,
Which is as illusory as a dream.
Still, I'll take my chances with it.

Please tell me what you think

As artistic souls, I think we encompass light, dark and the various shadows between. Indeed, when we become one with the earth swirling beneath our feet, it elevates us to a higher state of consciousness. Beautifully penned, Sweetie.

    Outstanding

What I love so much about your work is watching your talent unfold, your poetry always impresses me. I liked the lines:
    The night is here,
    deep in my soul,
This struck a chord with me. I thought this poem was thoughtful with a lot of originality. Keep writing.

Your words never fail to captivate the reader. Too many would skim by this and not see the depth... not see the wonder... that wonder - like light upon the water - that is your mind cascading upon the page. Not mind, so much as heart.. and not heart so much as essence... soul... being! May all that you yearn for come to pass! Blessed Friend!
