Words Long Overdue

Words Long Overdue:

A starry night caresses a young man’s heart
As he sits pondering, wandering from town to town
Letting his thoughts settle on ashy faces,
Scarred hands, broken backs, and clipped wings.
He floats weightlessly through lush gardens,
Silent steeples, distant fields
And familiar canyons.
While gently drifting like a lily on the tide
He waits,
    And watches,
          And waits.

His eyes yearn for her:
    The rose on her cheek
          The star in her eye
And the song that she plays as she strums at his hair;
    The scent on her skin
          The peace of her touch
And the kiss that she dangles timidly on his lips.

A starry night caresses a young man’s heart
As he sits, floating over the isles of his mind.

This poem is very sweet, love. The imagery is amazing...I hope you write more soon, darling. You'd be wasting a terrific talent if you stopped...

  • Hmm...

Even though we all know who this was really written for!
Haha just kidding, love. I love you, honey.
