The moon and stars

Whenever the moon and stars are set
My heart cries out for love and yet,
I hide away from all that shines
So there is no love that I call mine.
But yet, one day I met a man,
Who called and took me by the hand.
He brought me to the meadow green
To show me what he had seen;
A sky so blue it fades away,
And fields of flowers that slowly sway
In the winds that blow a gentle breeze
While you hear the buzzing of the bees.
Then he showed me something even more,
Something that warmed me to the core.
He showed me love that has no pain,
A love that's hard to ascertain.
It's a gift that I will not soon forget,
For whenever the moon and stars are set
I remember a love that was once mine,
A love I'll remember for all of time.

Author notes

I don't know what really inspired this. I'm just happy lately, no reason. I was going to add more then decided against it.

Very romantic, and written with a fair degree of freedom. Some lines are better than other, and there's a redundant apostrophe in bee's. But I like the way you've taken the line and run with it, so to speak. Here's a link to R.L. Stevenson's original, which has an interesting note attached.

Wow, I love the original. Thanks so much for the comment best of luck judging.
And you're right about the bees thing. No matter how many times I proofread I always manage to miss at least one thing.
      Thanks again, best of luck!
