She walks the streets begging for change.
Pushing that old shopping cart.
Some folks think she’s a little deranged.
But they just don’t know her heart.
She hasn’t always been this way.
Before the smack and the wine,
She used to act on the great white way.
She’s a star that has lost her shine.
She’s just a star that has lost her shine.
It’s hard to believe that she was once mine.
A little girl that lost her way.
I hope she comes home someday.
We used to dream of the normal things.
A life, a house and some kids.
Then she said she had to spread her wings.
But landed hard and hit the skids.
I’d take her back in an instant.
Then everything would be fine.
But she remains so distant.
She’s a star that has lost her shine.
She’s just a star that has lost her shine.
It’s hard to believe that she was once mine.
A little girl that lost her way.
I hope she comes home someday.
I know I will never forget her.
My one and only true love.
If she came home I would let her.
An answered prayer from above.
It hurts to know she’s out there
They say all wounds heal with time.
I just know I’ll always care
For my star that lost her shine
She’s just a star that has lost her shine.
It’s hard to believe that she was once mine.
A little girl that lost her way.
She’ll come back to me again, I pray.
