Dear Gift,
I remember the day when you opened my door for the first time. I was never so attracted to anyone as I was to you for those four fateful hours. We drove around for no reason at all not knowing that THE REASON was between us all along. You were in the parking lot, unaware that a shiny ring was about to save your life. I was looking for any reason at all to emerge from the trap I had convinced myself was everlasting and true. I remember the air that night and the feel of the back roads; an ironic paradox representing both the familiarity and comfort of things old in conjunction with the excitement of things new.
From the very beginning, I just wanted to be near you every moment of the day. I immediately felt a sense of comfort in every uncomfortable element about you. Despite my intelligence, you showed me a truth in life and love I could have never discovered on my own. In a sense, I hated everything about you and yet could not wait to experience you more.
And here we are on the steps of God's alter ready to chart a course more exciting than that first night we spent lost in memories passed. Unbelievably, I am more excited by you now than I was when that dangly ring first touched your car window. I can barely contain my happiness in God's blessing, love, and plan for our lives together. You are truly my gift from God, my provider, and my comforter for all my days to come.
Rest assured that come that day, I will pledge my life, love, devotion to you for the rest of our lives together. I will be come your gift; a prize you rightfully deserve. I have never been so certain of God's plan . . .
"Let the peace of Christ rule in our hearts, since as members of one body you we are called to peace. And be thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in us richly as we teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as we sing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God. And whatever we do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him."
With everlasting love, obedience, patience, and devotion,
Your Gift
