Amen! I shudder to think how people can think that 'poetry' created by banging one's head on a keyboard and going back to insert smart-sounding, obscure words is the artistic equivalent of an actual poem by Donne, T.S. Eliot, or Heaney. WTF.

people get bored by too elaborate, beautiful art as it's not something they themselves could do... so if something seems like something they could do too it's more endearing to them. it's like punk music when it came as a counter-movement to heavy metal which some thought had become too technical. all in all: if it's about humanity in a chronological order you will see movements and counter movements all through history. something modern is only modern because it feels refreshing etc.
hmm... the only real difference is that everything moves faster and faster... while the rennesance lasted for a century or so, dadaism and whatnot lasted only 10 years... modern stuff don't even last at all... it's just a blurr.
and another thing... what is post modern is generally made to provoke such people as yaself. it's the very meaning of it. to stomp new ground. and I guess it works doesn't it? =)
