My God is no existential spirit
nor the condemner of sins;
nor do I place my faith in
chants and spells.
I believe in you.
I believe in myself,
In the breaths that whisper
words of love
and solace.
I believe in the world,
In the great and mighty
who can love,
who can look at a prostitute
in a damp, dingy alley
and say “I respect you”
without pretense;
I believe in the starving,
the needy,
who can turn to their neighbors and say
“I have nothing,
but it is all yours.”
I believe in myself,
In you,
the world,
the human heart.
I am a believer.

Prompt:
"When I do good, I feel good; when I do bad, I feel bad, and that is my religion..." ~Abraham Lincoln
What I say whenever someone asks me what my religious beliefs are... this quote struck home for me, I guess.
a bit different from my normal style...
