Taunting, beating, everyday in and out.
Rumors and lies spread around the school.
I cried everyday but I could not shout . . .
to make them leave me be. Calling me a fool.
For ten years that did not seem to end
I was without a human friend to talk to.
There was not a day that I could pretend
and believe tomorrow would bring something new.
So I thank you for being there all day
and for never once just leaving me alone.
You stayed here while every day I’d pray
to find a human friend to walk to my home.
You waited here for ten years plus one
till a friend was found, till your job had been done.
Author notes
Ode to my first Dog Ziggy.
For the first ten years of my life I really didn't have any human friends. I was teased and physically bullied and Ziggy was always there when I got home. He was my angel. I met my first and best friend when I was ten. Ziggy passed away when I was eleven, I think two months before my 12 birthday.

HOODWINKED!
Whos to say that faithful, loyal family pets are not angels in disguise? They give unconditional love, day in and day out. They enrich our lives and are wonderful companions. This is a beautiful tribute poem to Ziggy, well written and so meaningful. Well done my Bandit Sister.
You have been hoodwinked by your Bandit Family today because WE CARE!

Family pets become part of the family- they are friends too and this one certainly was there for you for a long time. Sentiments well expressed in these lines - easy to read and understand how you felt about him.

Wow, that is a really neat way of looking at Ziggy's life. It's almost a sonnet too. This is a good one. Looking forward to more.
