to be the best in all I do
to be the finest just for you
was all important to me
your soul was mine to be
many hours of sleepless nights
thinking how you needed my sights
to peer upon your sickly heart
praying tomorrow a brand new start
you got better as I prayed
then off to work I went that day
tired and worn with no sleep
yet loved to hear your laugher seep
I gave you all I had
never did I ever feel mad
loving you when you were ill
gave my life something to feel
a mother's love is strong
even when things go wrong
connections like this never part
to my son, I gave all of my heart

never did I feel mad......unconditional love. I enjoyed reading this and I wonder can unconditional love be given only parent to child..Well done

No, I think we can have unconditional love with and adult as well. But it takes a very compassionate adult side to be able to do this task. I just think it is easier with a child for we know already they are innocent and need teaching. At times as adults we need guidance and understanding as well. thanks for commenting.

This is a very different take on the prompt, mother and child rather than lovers, and I really like it Well done and thank you for entering x

beautiful emotions
You express your emotions so well in this poem Miss Scarlet.
Your words tug at the heart and soul, for as a mother we can feel the special bond between mother and child, and it gives us such special purpose in life.
Good luck in the contest!
Love & Hugs,
Jeannette

wonderous
a true mother`s love. nothing compare on this earth with the love and care given by mother to child. truly your complete heart given with love, and still working that next day. sad that many forget, especially husbands/fathers, the effort and love mothers put forth in behalf of their little ones. a treat to read. thank you for sharing your love.
