Blink.
Again.
Don't let her forget
In that second she left for the stars
Planets realigned with the chords in the songs
of your family cat. She couldn't hear them, was singing too loudly
the suitcase spat out what she fed it, you asked as she swore and she screamed
if she wanted some Browning
before she left
she declined.
You read poetry, out loud
to yourself. It drowned out the groaning and creaking
of the muscles in your chest cavity and ceased
the scent in your mouth of the nail clippings of hers
she left behind, and the centrefolds of magazines and drawer liners
and soap scum
The breath and bite still littering
the carpet.

The picture was put together with each and every word, I could barely blink myself for you had me hanging off of every line. Thank you for your entry.

'Don't let her forget

Planets realigned with the chords in the songs

i love that
and the last line is spectacular
in fact, pretty much all of this is spectacular
it feels breathless and urgent and then seems to slow down, to finish in some sort of half-empty image that is simply wonderful
lovely
thank you for entering
