[ Sunrise, Sunset, ]

Sunrise, Sunset,
  Whichever it is,
          Its sweet,
                  Sweet as in candy,
              on Halloween Day.
Days on which our sweet tooth acts up,
              Up as in hyper.
Even though hyper can mean slow,
              slow as in rubber necking.
          Neck like in giraffe?
  Giraffe, a favorite animal,
that can be sweet, hyper, slow with a gorgeous neck.

    funny!

This poem made me laugh mainly because of the poet's train of thought throughout the poem. She starts out by saying how both a sunrise and sunset can be sweet and nice to look at, but then defines her meaning of "sweet" to be with reference to candy. This in turn leads to the desire for candy when a person's sweet tooth acts "up," which is then defined to mean "hyper." Ultimately the poem resolves itself with the mention of the poet's favorite animal. The giraffe in this case can be described with the highlighted words in the poem. The defining of certain words leads to the defining of other words, and all of these defined words finds peace within a certain entity that the poet loves.
