A sense of peace comes over me.
What does it mean
when I have lost the will to search the stars in the cosmic sea?
How can I be satisfied with exploding stars in the sky?
And, that I accept this is what happens after I die?
Maybe I just have too much wit.
No-one special, just a funny kid.
What is soul?
Am I at peace because I feel I can finally let go
of the questions, for the answers I've found.
Here I stand, a strap of my sandal falling to the side.
Earth bound.

Author notes
The ending of the sandals may not seem to fit, but it describes me.

you were in peace on 29th march 08. thats very interesting. What was it you had found? i would like to know.
But this peace of your poem....is .... very peacful,
the vision
"Here I stand, a strap of my sandal falling to the side.
Earth bound."
is a very beautiful... reality...
try to write some stories... i bet you are a great story teller.. -

Thanks, Jeet. This peace I speak about in this poem is about feeling at peace with what has happened in the past and to not dwell on things that I wish had gone differently. Unfortunately I lost this peace last summer and so I went to church and have been continuing to search for peace ever since. I have written some plays in the past, but I should try to write more sometime. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Thanks, Tasha. I never thought of it as self actualization before, but that works.

Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting.

Sometimes the answers come to you from the outside, sometimes from within. Either way they bring peace. I feel the sandal brings the human element after a philosophically deep poem.
I enjoyed this.

Thanks, Buddy. Human element? I guess it's always good. It helps to remind people what's real in life. Glad you enjoyed it. I always appreciate your comments.

Wow!!

Now when I read this...I was seeing like a person on a dock...You know sandals on feet but one barely hanging on
Strange I know
Magnificent question posed
Love this!!
I envision the Soul as the contents within the belly of whatever it is...whether man or beast...
animate to inanimate
Keep that quill dancing Beautiful!!
Thank You for sharing Your Heart and Spirit~
Many blessings to You in all You do Sweet Soul
Best wishes too
and much love~ Desire~*~

That's interesting. I usually just wear my sandals around the house and sometimes outside, but I hardly get out to the beach, but I love how my words can create imagery for others. Whatever works, you know.
Thanks for the comment, Desire. I always appreciate you stopping by.

ahhh Good write Haley. It all sounds as if you have reached a peace within yourself because you know the answers. What is it with you and your sandals? haha. Thanks for sharing and never put the pen down.

I don't know, Charley. It's actually something a little strange that goes back a few years. I found out by accident that someone who died many years ago also had a bad habit of wearing sandals even after they ended up all ratty and wore them all the time. But, I have indeed found peace these days. I always appreciate you commenting on my poems.

I think that this poem is very, very good.
(Forgive me that I can't explain myself any better.)

Not only do I think that it makes sense, I think that it is awesome that you were able to put that much personality into this. It's always so good to see you post poetry that I wonder why you don't do it more often. Well either way, this was fantastic! I really enjoyed it!!

I think you're right. I should post some like this more often. I used to start my cosmology philosophy poems off this way by just dealing with grief and death and reincarnation. I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for the comment, Ashleigh.
