make-up and fake smlies

look into my eyes
and tell me what you see

behind all the make-up
are my tear stained cheeks
behind my smile
is the frown you can't see

so everyday i put on make-up
and pretend to smile
so i can fool everyone
for a while

it seems to be working
cause no one can see
the sadness
that lies inside of me

the hurt that i have taken
all throughout these years
the pain that i have inflicted
only on myself
just to end my pain
for a little while

so i'll cry myself to sleep
just to carry on
so i can wake up
and move along

so if you think you got me figured out
nice try, but guess again
