Now, Banjo was a poet from Down Under,
Whose rhyming threw critics asunder.
He left them aghast,
With skill unsurpassed,
And stole many a bush poet's thunder.

Wonderfully rhythmic and detailing. I learned all about the poet in one short limerick. Excellent! I wish you well in the challenge.
Much Love ♥

Very well done, and demonstrates an understanding of the poet!

The Man from Snowy River. That rings a bell. Paterson certainly had a sense of place and pride in where he was from. Thanks for introducing me to his poetry.

I never heard of him before but Waltzing Matilda rings a bell. Will go back to OP and have a look at his other stuff. Seems like there's a bit of a Robert Service flavour to it but Banjo ruffled more feathers perhaps.
Thank you.

Ah, a great choice to write a limerick about! And asunder is one of my favorite words...oh, and it's "asunder" isn't it? Unless there's another spelling (maybe an Englisn spelling)I'm not aware of in which case, ignore me.

Good luck in the contest!

Now this is something you excel at-Limericks!!

Paterson is an Australian Icon - and rightly so along with Henry Lawson they had 19th and early 20th century Australian poetry in the palm of their hands. Love your Limerick, thanks for the entry. ~ Von ~

A great summation and a nice limerick. Patersonm author of the Unofficial Australin National Anthem, knew the bush life and described it well as in A Bush Christening http://oldpoetry.com/opoem/5347-A-B--Banjo-Paterson-A-Bush-Christening
