There is a place so bright
not many dare to step inside
lest they be overtaken by pure love.
There is no night, nowhere to hide
it is a place of awesome grace,
where honesty and faith abide.
A place of all mystery
proclaims all history.
There are no tests
of ardent prayers on bended knee,
no more thoughts
of doubt or pain remain.
No idle hands to heed the call,
no wedding bands no mourning shawl,
for there every face be loved by all.
The light of truth will set you free
or so proclaims all history.

Nice title...I can understand how the choice of inner light was inspirational to you, it always comes down to personal belief on what it means...I too feel you are describing heaven, such a beautiful place to go to, we are drawn to the light of heaven because it already resides within us...
An uplifting poem, with wonderful descriptions...good flow and use of line breaks...thank you for this wonderful entry

Liked this interpretation of the inner light, part of the theme of this contest. Good flow and interesting rhythm and rhyme throughout these lines. So many different entries - makes reading them and this one fun. Good luck.

You continue to astound me with your poetry. You have described this inner light so magically. As I read it, I thought you were describing heaven and it still appears heavenly to me.
To me, inner light would be a difficult subject to describe but you have gracefully achieved it here. This is so good...alby
