Quell

When love is felt in quantity
Begetting heart's fragility,
Choose unforeseen audacity
To save the mind's poor sanity.
A quickly-staged brutality
And targeting of vanity
Restores the loss of gravity,
Ends need for reciprocity.
Prey upon passivity
Query the lost identity,
For briefest of hostility
Born of true necessity,
Returns forgot lucidity.
'Tis better to have loved and lost.

Author notes

A Quell is a poetic form invented for the book 'Wicked'. 13 lines rhyme, and the 14th concludes and sheds light on the previous observations.
