Famous poet was Shel Silverstein
His works quite funny, never divine
It is not a rumor
Had odd sense of humor
Charmingly wording thoughts asinine

Awesome limerick, you did a wonderful job. Thank you so much for entering and good luck.

I think Uncle Shelby would have adored this limerick in an odd sort of way. Definitely with a smile on his face, and a chuckle in his ego's pocket. LOL
He was a funny man who loved what he did and did what he loved. An excellent example of the form and the man. The best to you in the contest.
Much Love Always ♥

"Odd sense of humor" doesn't even begin to describe it! But he was a very funny and creative fellow and most importantly, a joy to read.
Best of luck in the contest.

Asinine: extremely stupid or foolish
I think Shel was neither of these - in facxt he was smart enough to only appear to be
Who else could give instructions on how to serve Recipe For A Hippopotamus Sandwich. Your Limerick is great, thanks for entering this contest.

Nice verse. Silverstein certainly had an odd sense of humour that may have been occasionally asinine but was often wickedly funny. One has only to read A Boy Named Sue http://oldpoetry.com/opoem/32625-Sheldon-Allan-Silverstein-A-Boy-Named-Sue to see his genius.
