Just For Fun

Missing image

Have you ever kissed a snowflake
or had breakfast with the sun,
walked upon a tender whisper
that’s so quiet it can stun.

Seen a hazy purple moon rise
over oceans made of tea,
picked soft white clouds of cotton
from the branches of a tree.

Listened to the heartbeat
of a rose before it dies,
touched the feather of a phoenix
as it fades before your eyes.

Flown upon a carpet
made of paper edged with lace
landed by a tortoise
with a smile upon it’s face.

Now I've tasted all that's fancy
and I've swum within the fun,
wont you dream with me a lifetime
close your eyes, it can be done!

    A FINE PIECE, INDEED - SUZY Q!

THANKS for sharing it with me -and I've done the things below

    Flown upon a carpet
made of paper edged with lace
    landed by a tortoise
with a smile upon it’s face.

He! He! and much more than that on me Yellow Bus, on The Lucky Star, and on me British Walkabout - to mention me latest adventures! LOL!!!

    I've sailed upon the ocean,
I've made love in the sea,
I've walk with a sad dodo,
    all the way to Galilee.

I've lived in a cool castle,
in the land of Gay Parie,
I flew up to the tower,
when I lost the magic key.

I've danced with a fine woman,
    who set me spirit free,
and took me home for crumpets,
    sweets and gin and tea.

    I've done so many things,
that it would take to long to tell,
so I'll bid you a fine day,
    and a merry fair-the-well.

    Peace & Love!
    Earl.

    I like

I really like this. It's so lively and well written. I love to daydream. My very favorite thing to do is make imaginary works of art while watching the clouds. For relaxing purposes how good it is to let your mind wander in sweet fantasy land. Thanks for sharing. I love it. childlike faith

A trip to the light fantastic, or even maybe the colour of magic, maybe its the picture but there's a real flavour of Pratchett and Discworld here in this piece. Awesome write xx Sorry I'm not as clever as Jeff and able to comment in verse

A beautiful story told of an imaginary time,
when snowflakes could be kissed and moons were purple haze..Oh how time does fly! Exquistite in form and flow.

Thank you so much for writing this. I have read loads of poems on this website which seem only meaningful to the author and I must admit, I have written my fair share of poems like that. But this poem is just a nice read. It's fun and it rhymes and it has a good rythm. It's nothing fancy but it is genuinly nice to read.

    I've cavorted with a centaur
    and giggled with a ghoul;
    pirouetted with a porpoise
    before I went to school.

Oh, I've gambled with a gryphon
and swam in God's right eye,
but I've never kissed a snowflake--
    maybe I should try!

I love your charming and clever poem, Sue--it's excellent!

If you wish to kiss a snowflake
please lie down upon your back,
      close your eyes in silence
when all the worlds turned black
a tender brush upon your lips
      first one or maybe two
so cold at first then warmer
as the kisses come to you.

You are a master of the rhyming verse!

I once tried to kiss a snowflake, but got my damn lips stuck to a frozen metal pole!!
Love the picture!!--Reminds me of my Ex Wife!

You've torn it up and thrown it away with this one. I enjoyed this immensely (because dreaming is what I do best.)

    Yes I've kissed a snowflake
And she giggled at the sport
As we danced on tender whispers
And behaved as we'd been taught

Drank the tea from out the oceans
Saw the Moon in purple haze
    Since I started drinking cider
    I do similar most days...
