Soft spoken words
can sometimes be more deafening than shouts.
The little lies we sometimes tell
to cover up our doubts,
pulling heart from heart complacent,
can prick like rosy thorns of anger.
Those we think we love the most
can sometimes seem a perfect stranger.
An angel's kiss upon my lips,
the gentle hands of sweet desire
can burn the flesh or turn it cold.
The dieing embers of love's fire,
cooling as the days go by,
a passion that is never fed.
Stars since fallen from the sky
leave darkness in their stead.
The morning light and empty space
where lovers once in bliss had lain
remind one of the simple truth
that more than half of love is pain.
