[she's mine] Ghosts or not??

“She’s mine, she’s mine” the voices said over and over
I woke up and saw them floating through my window
Then my eyelids were glued shut
They pinched my face, sending pins and needles down my cheeks
“She’s mine,” the voices whispered “she’s mine”
I opened my mouth but only a silent scream emerged
Finally I croaked out a sound and the pulling at my face was gone
I sat bolt upright in my bed
Eyes open now, I stared at my closed window
And I saw two black faces fading through the pane of glass

Author notes

When I was about 8 years old what I believe as being ghosts visited me one night. There were two of them fighting over me. When I managed to free myself from their hold, I looked up and there was just two black faces disappearing through the closed window. I was too scared to sleep in my bedroom for months! My parents convinced me that I must have just had a vivid nightmare. Some might say it was ‘sleep paralysis’.

But I saw another ghost when I was about 9 or 10 fading away at the end of my bed after I woke up from a dream (man wearing blue shirt and blue jeans). My brother’s and I saw the same spirit in our lounge-room early one morning, so I knew that they were not just dreams then. We used to hear someone walking up our front stairs in the middle of the night and shadows on the walls when there was no lights on, in one room. I used to sleep in that room and one night there were people talking all night but no one else was awake in the house, no radio or TV on. That house was definitely haunted!

I had an experience similiar to that when i was 16. I was in my room about to go to sleep when all of a sudden it got really cold and i saw clouds of smoke looked like faces. I couldnt hear anything but it looked like they were laughing at me. They kept going around me in circles then they disappeared. I was so scared i couldnt sleep i wanted to go get my mother but i thought she would think i was crazy. I never told anyone until now.

  • Congrats on the bronze trophy. This was just chilling to read. I cannot give my personal opinion on ghosts but I do find people's experiences with the paranormal to be very interesting. And this was flawless. Well done.

a very vivid description of a terrifying event. good word choice throughout, brings the moment alive for the reader.

    • I'll never forget the experience! I'm glad it came out as vivid on paper as it is in my mind.

I've been experimenting with tables thanks to your column I now know how to do them - they do make the layout more eye pleasing don't they. Hope I didn't ramble on to much in the notes
