We're All Doomed

Missing image
If all this global warming stuff is true
And the end-times are hurtling our way;
If the planet's totally out of control
And water engulfs the earth someday,
Far worse than the total loss of life
Will be when we're all dead in heaven,
Forced to admit Waterworld was prophetic
Then get in line to say, "Uh, sorry, Kevin."

    Who says.

Many times what is in the minds of those who create the scenarios such as Waterworld often are being prophetic. So I like this Mark it could very well be the truth.

I want some warmth, not global, but local...it's kind of cold here and it's Spring! Mark, should we start building an arch?
I like you sense of humour, always did

Global warming is a myth. 0.3 degrees celcius/year rise for the years between 95 and 05, then 06/07 plateaued, and this year is cooler. In the 20s they thought there was going to be an ice age. Don't believe everything you read.

That's nice to know. However, all the "if's" in this poem make it pretty clear that I'm not sold on the idea, either. I definitely don't believe everything I read. Then again, you read those statistics somewhere, right? lol Respectfully, I think you're taking this piece of fluff a little too seriously, but thanks for commenting.

Well, the statistics I read reflect the reality of history, and global warming stats are pure speculation and projection.

I didn't take it seriously, I was just throwing it out there.

I tend to agree with you. Seems like more fear-based manipulation to me, but from an environmental angle this time. If people can be convinced the world is coming to an end, one way or another, they can be controlled, and they'll vote for the politicians who are going to "save" them.

Hope you're having a good weekend, buddy.

    visions of armageddon

Tell it like it is Mark.

I too struggle with the myopic insanity that plagues our troubled planet. I keep hearing how "we" cannot make too many drastic emission cuts because of the resultant economic impact...huh? How about the resultant economic impact of a barren and desolate wasteland? Me thinks greed by the relative few who profit from economies predicated on fossil fuel is overiding the common sense that says we need to stop all of this right now.

Here in Alberta we are guilty of being the most polluting and environmentally irresponsible province in Canada. It ocurs to me that these days the only legitimate group we can subscribe to is that of planet earth. I pray we wake up to this reality soon.

    Thanks for posting this.

Well done, Mark. We do seem to be in a hurry to fry ourselves and die, huh? But what else could you expect from a race that created the oven, the range, the microwave, and the nukes? I guess we just like seeing things cooked! (Pot pies, soup, chicken, planet earth . . .) Good job, buddy!! - ocerus

    Beautiful and Funny

Guess what? Wait until you find out there is no heaven and the whole deal was rigged in advance. All that worrying about global warming will seem REALLY rediculous then. ~Peace~Gar

Good point! God did say He would never destroy the world by flood a second time - He'd just let us slowly do it to ourselves! lol

Hey, do you know Chuck Johnson. He's a fellow motorcycle freak on this site, and a good pal of mine.

      Thanks for the laugh.

OH WONDERFUL! When I opened this I don't know what I expected. Probably a gloom and doom work, but what I got was a hearty chuckle!

It is definately a winner in my book...and I will share it with others who need to lighten up!

    Bravo!

    Lol.. loved it

Mark, great write. May not fit the requirements, but heck who cares, I don't know them anyway.

I've been saying there is global warming going on for years, over a decade, but many do not believe it. (the majority of scientists dont). I even wrote, still have the response, a letter to National Geographic, they said NO such thing as global warming. Not happening, no way, no how, etc. Bet I could humiliate them with that letter now. Did you see in the news today that a portion of the Ice Belt around Antarctic had broken off and was more then twice the size of Road Island? (actually, no bigge here... that happens and has happend before.)

But, I'm a believer.... however, I do not think its the fault of humanity. If we had so polluted the air that the ice caps were warmed beyond repair then we would die from the pollution. To much CO2. Nope...not going there! lol.
