By the old oak tree
The sun casts a cold shadow
Killing everything within the roots.
Slowly, emerging from their damp, warm earth
They open their muddy window.
The roots start to tangle
Dancing in the shade
Looking for that perfect shine
Avoiding those that have decayed.
Never have i sat and wondered
Or even marvelled at how trees grow;
Giving us the things we need
The air to say 'hello'.
Slowly we kill what is left
Everything artificial that once was natural
Is disappearing into the future
Its not fiction; its actual.
We are being cleansed off
The ground is melting under our feet;
Nothing seems real to me anymore
My life does not feel complete.
With every rising of the sun
We are given another day
Think of your life as just begun
Before the earth throws us away.
Author notes

This is set up nicely, and holds a powerful message for us all. We do need to appreciate all the earth provides and stop taking it for granted. I enjoyed this write! Blessings, Patty

I agree that humans are destroying anything and everything natural. You see entire cities with nothing whatsoever green in them anymore, mass pollution, deforestation to a degree that entire animal populations die out. It's sickening. And it's like pulling teeth just to keep people from doing basic things like littering! Arg...
This is insightful and well written. Cheers.
...and I love your name, by the way. Mighty Boosh is hilarious.

Very Nice
I did like the poem, I just can't think of which quote it was from. Almost all of the Anonymous quotes have to do with nature. I do like it though, just fix the grammar and whatnot. The I in the third stanza, the the two It's in the last line of the fourth stanza. Other than that, good luck.

Its 'with every rising of the sun, think of your life as just begun'. Its just to do with stuff like global warming.....which is nature. It was how i was feeling, but it is to do with nature, if you read it through again and think about it, you should be able to get it.
