Wednesday's fingers dip slowly into Thursday

Missing image

and quietly waits,
breaths become known
internally lungs fill
to capacity

what is this noise,
that silence can tear into delicate shreds?

so little time to say hello
or even goodbye
as one door closes
another opens

tentative hands reach
for fortitude, I have small fears
shadowed eyes that seek
such soft lulls, and a voice
that the spirit in me shares

gentleness motions,
opens like a lotus flower
having struggled in muddied waters

washes clean simple doubts
so the sun can grasp the day
in compassionate song

I am ready to listen

You know. You write so many poems, it's quite overwhelming, looking through your collection!

This seemed to fit perfectly for this moment... as it was just Wednesday and now, Thursday. sigh. Time, doors, window, change. I felt that quite a bit tonight...having dinner with family (some of whom I have not seen in a couple years...and we just rush, rush, rush, don't we? I have this anxiety about it...specifically losing people...but the universe gives, too, doesn't it?

silly me and my wine...I will go to sleep now. But I really did enjoy this, very much. I shall keep reading you.

Coming back to this is such a pleasure, and interesting as well. First time I see my reflection in the last half, real strongly so, this time I hear it from you much more so. All the same at the end, really beautiful piece. I'm gonna print it out when I get back home. So glad it won a Gold! Deserves it much!
Thank you so much for writing this for me Gilly, it's 'White Magic'! XX

    Powerfully you

You are working through the loss and coming to grips with a new beginning. Where, when one door closes another one opens to another room. Not always better rooms but there are still many more doors leading out of each room we enter. We just need to walk across the floor to where they are and turn the knob...

Very well read, and the writer did well too.

I'm quietly and profoundly reminded that one day blends to the next, bringing changes, some subtle, some explosive. The lotus is one of my favorite flowers and it's beauty glowing after the muddy sleep is astounding.
Your beautiful poem reminds me of when I was in Cairo and seeing the lotus growing naturally.

You've written a very meaningful poem, a powerful message within

    Good luck in the contest

new-friends sometimes can make us realize things about ourselves that old friends may take for granted. Be open to it.

    "as one door closes
    another opens"

I always forget about that....and I needed to be reminded of that today..thank you

After I've read through the poem and came to the author's notes, I almost forgot about the poem - all i saw was "a new friend" !

This is beautiful, deep stuff, Gilly and i love the metaphor of a lotus lily here...they rise from the mud each morning to float on the water, beautiful and washed clean...

And with their heads freed from the mud, they can listen - and hear all the new sounds... This poem is both delicate and strong - just like a woman, like you.

    Such magic spell of tranquility

    'what is this noise,
that silence can tear into delicate shreds?'

There are lines here that I adore, and particularly this one.
Throughout the whole poem, is such peace... it is hard to find 'noise', from my 'muddied waters' beside it.
Such peace, and yet it delicately implies acknowledgement, of causes for heart ache.

Yes beautiful... I intend to add comment, when my voice has returned from beside me
