I Just Grew Fond Of Texas

The World Court does not
remember the Alamo,
but I do, and so does Texas.
If you come to Texas to
rape and kill? They will kill you,
and no-one can help you.
Not even George Bush Jr.
Fuck the New World Order,
and fuck the world court
Our children deserve better.

Please tell me what you think

Yep, they do deserve better, much better. And it's nice to know that one of my favorite people here on allpoetry is also a fellow libertatian. My Dad is a Texan, born and raised and resides near his home town in eastern Texas, retired many years ago from the Army, now 89 years old, still sharp as a Texas longhorn, just not quite as spry

I feel saddened by what we, as a whole, are passing on to our children and grandchildren... and in my case, great grandchildren... THEY DESERVE BETTER !!

And congratulations on your new daughter, Jeremi

    Hmmmmm ...

I'm not so sure about that. I have rather been hoping that the World Court would try Bush for war crimes.

    Anyway, it's a thought.

Man O Man! I was born in OK. My fathers a Texan, he's still there somewhere, Plano last I heard. I no matter for what length of time I stay in Texas can never grow fond of the state. It flat hot there are no trees, well at least in my memory. Even though I thought I probably wouldn't like this because of the title, I was wrong. Yes! Fuck the New World Order. I am also a little upset with all the people that scoff at that idea without doing any research for themselves. It is odd how often the term New World Order brings immediate irrational defensiveness. Immediate thoughtless rebuttals.
    Thank you for this poem.~Leah

    Bravo!

The only problem is .. Texas keeps voting for the idiot.

Perhaps if Bush is ever impeached, they'll do it in Texas and they'd consider Texas-style penalties. I don't foresee that, though.

We've been watching a Frontline documentary on Bush's war the last couple of nights. Not that I didn't already know this, but what a fucking disaster.

I recently was exposed to a comparison of this war to the Alamo, believe it or not, and I can't remember where. I don't think it was in the Frontline documentary. It might have been in a Nation article I read on Winter Soldiers, but I actually think it was Bill. I can't even remember what the comparison was, though.

Hmmm .. I just read something else about Mr. Bush Jr. and Texas: ".. Supreme Court's ruling, in practical terms, was that a Mexican on death row in Texas need not be given a new hearing, despite the wishes of a former Texas governor, who happens to be the current president." (NYT)

That actually fits better with this poem, it seems.

Bravo. You're a thinker. Yes, recently I opened up a rare book store, and since I have 200,000 titles, and a new daughter Persephone on top of (not literally) two sons. I watch the news, late. I loved that Texas told the world court and everyone else, "fuck you". That's my poem, you got me. Now you know I'm a libertarian. Fuck the world court, man. Woman, we have to live with each other first, apple pickers second. Then vice versa, not before.

What a spot on observation. How one state has the dubious honour of holding more people on death row and soemhow justifies it? What an odd way of looking at the human condition and still think you are somehow advancing the human race yet Texas stands out there as leader of bible belt states who kill. Our children deserve better What american children really deserve is a second amendment that actually protects and imbues a common sense and common decency- at the moment it simply adds to the slaughter. Take away the guns and hey, who knows, less people are shot and less people shoot. That might work. Good piece.
