Trapped in chains
And you walk by
With a wink in your eye
And inquire if help is needed
Feel my pain
And you turn ‘round
Without a sound
And make pretense at empathy
What’s to gain?
By stooping down
Your tears abound
And I am awash with your “help”
Please move on
Take your clutter
Leave me in the gutter
And know that I am better off without you

The dejected people on the street have their reasons for being there, often not wanting our sympathy nor help. They want to work it out by themselves to have a sense of ownership in their lives and that is why most people try not to see them..I always see them..and know that there's not much that I can do to help except offer help.
thoughtful response to the prompt...
