Blind Habit

Trapped in the chains of history,
we are bound by invisible links
to the horrors of the past.

We learn nothing and are destined
to repeat our costly errors
ad nauseum. This will last.

We are creatures of blind habit
and we're going nowhere--fast.

How is it that such observance as this becomes so evident when consequences are about to manifest before the blind eye of complacency? The warning signs are always there in spades. Apathy is not ignorance, it's stupidity.

    true indeed

and there's little to add I think. I especially like the idea of conflicts in history as a bad habit, unnecessary but present nevertheless. Good flow too.

Yes and history always has a way of repeating itself...I guess we will never learn from our mistakes...or will we?

That's true and I don't see a problem with how you put fast. It can be done either way...

Bill, I question whether you need the suspension and the exclamation for "fast". Maybe neater to put it on a line of its own, otherwise it starts to get "dirty pretty". Only my opinion, which might, after all, be horse-poo.

The poem's good. Do well in the contest.
