Heavy rain fell every day,
ebony orbs washing all hope away.
Hit rock bottom, my life at its worst,
dwelling within your vile curse.
Fear thrived, my courage retreated,
happiness gone, my feelings depleted.
Slowly you drained the life from me,
Bravery rippled, I had to flee.
Wisps of haze began to clear,
along with you, gone was the fear.
Cuts and bruises did easily mend,
but deeper wounds are raw to tend.
So many times I asked you why,
but wasn't deemed worthy of a reply.
I no longer care that you don't respond,
for I have severed the power, the bond.
Happiness now reigns supreme,
my past fragmented, a bitter dream.
Banished to memories that slowly depart,
Onwards I'll stride, to a brand new start.

This is a skillfully worded piece dealing with a delicate topic. Your words can certainly help soothe those "tender wounds" for others in the same predicament. The line which stood out most to me was "So many times I asked you why,but wasn't deemed worthy of a reply". It really shows how Abuse wreaks havoc not only on our bodies, but minds as well

This was such a touching write!!! So full of emotion, written so wonderfully!!
You are so strong hunny! I love the strength shown at the end of this... hope is a powerful thing.. and you managed to move through this awful situation and rebuild your life for you and your children.
So proud of you!!

A bitter tale of love unrequited, finally reaching the point of no returning. Sometimes it's a brand new world everyday, but not so with love. Love often drags on and on and on....
Good rhyming poem, and good luck.
