~ I went out to the animal shelter to rescue my little Jasper
one day some time not to long ago;- and from outside,
on my way in I saw him ... and as I walked in and looked around,
I asked to God, "What kind of day is it going to be for me today"?
And then in that moment, I saw Him again,
and he was cute ... as a button- a very fun and smashing,
playful and innocent young lad, this tender little boy ...
and I new I was going to bring a new light ...
into his tired and lonely and vacant, quiet little world ...
and as I heard this shy yet eager, raspy little meow
from behind this pen he was sitting in. ~
~ I walked over to have a look see;-
and there he was looking up at me ..."My little kitten Jasper"! ~
~ With twinkling and starry eyes and a warmness and passion for life
I could have never imagined ... (nor have-ever ignored),
and so I reached down and picked up ... the kindredness of my soul,
and the simple touch ... on my skin of his warm fur,
was of the sensation of the purest beauty ... I had never known,
and as he placed his cool nose and a soft little paw ...
on the lips of my face. ~
~ We looked at each other ...
a quiet while with such an intense ... and simple feeling. ~
~ You know that feeling you have when to get to hold the one thing
you have long for so long ... to hold,
finally you know you couldn't have asked for more. ~

Cute
thats so cute to write a poem on ur cat. later nice work kep it up
-
That had a really powerful meaning. I loved this because I love cats and the best part of it was that you explained to me how much Jasper meant to you.
You have a talent for poetry and I haven't said that to anyone else. But the meaning in this poem is strong.
Thanks for entering the contest.

Much better. Thank you. How cute. It's so sweet. And beautifully written. Nice job.
-
Ok, I'm sorry, but I can't read it. The background-text mixture is killing me.

This is such a sweet poem. I loved it. It reminds me of when I found my cat Molly in the adoption center at Pet Smart. She was so friendly and loving from the moment I saw her. A week later she was mine. Enjoyed the read! Thank you for entering my contest.

Awww
I loved this poem. It's cute and enduring. A pleasent read about a small thing that has big impact. I love my cat Amber, and I'm sure Jasper would apriciate this little poem for him.

This was a very nice written story.
But your print and background was so dim I don't know if I got out of it as I should have.
Good Luck. -
Wonderful tribute to your sister however, it is more prose than poetry I think. A story really. Perhaps line breaks or something, I don't really know...maybe post it as a story. I did notice the misuse of some things like periods too that need fixing. here is an example:
"I went out to the animal shelter to rescue my little Jasper one day some time not to long ago... and from outside. On my way in I saw him... and as I walked in and looked around. I asked to God... "What kind of day is it going to be for me today"? And then in that moment... I saw Him again, and he was cute... as a button... a very fun and smashing... playful and innocent young lad, this tender little boy... and I new I was going to bring a new light. Into his tired and lonely and vacant, quiet little world... and as I heard this shy yet eager... Raspy little meow from behind this pen he was sitting in.
to tighten i it up you could eliminate some of the prepositional phrasing... like this:
I went to the animal shelter in an attempt to rescue my little Jasper one day not to long ago. From outside I saw him, and as I walked in and looked around, I asked God, "What kind of day is it going to be for me today"? And then in that moment... I saw Him again, he was cute as a button.Very fun and smashing. A playful and innocent young lad, this tender little boy. I knew I was going to bring a new light into his tired, lonely and vacant, quiet little world As I heard this shy yet eager raspy little meow from behind this pen he was sitting in.
I corrected the spelling, eliminated some ands and other prepositions as well as filler words. Also the
elipses were used improperly. (...) when you choose to use an elipse for emphasis, there should be a space, then the three dots and then a space and the next word.
any way just some ideas. thank you for your entry -
Oh wow that was wondeful James. I love cats. Actually I adore them with all passions of the world. I had a fella cat some time ago. Raised him since he was a youngster. Then I recently made a move and he stayed at my moms home. He hasn't come home much, one time he stayed away for 4 or so months. He is a tom cat sadly. Otherwise he was a wonderful cat. I love him very much!! Love always, ~Only1love4ever

A Fantastic Write and a WOW story with plenty of emotion streaming across the page tugging at the heart strings with a perfect melody amazing the reader "reaching down and picking up the kindredness of their souls" right along with you. A wonderful feeling indeed. Thank you for the vivid imagery and kind heart for I too felt his cool nose and soft fur. My cat is named Cocoa Bean.
Peace in light and love

That is nice.
Animals that become pets are very special to us. I am glad you found your little Jasper. My daughter has a cat named Jasper Jax. She loves that cat and he is elderly now. But this is very sweet. -
Awe! It's amazing how animals can help heal our loneliess. Sometimes life brings us what we need. Beautiful write. I feel the same way about my animals. Of course, I have too many. I guess I just need a lot of healing. Hehee. Or at least I feel like that at times.

Can understand the relationship people have with their pets - they become part of the family, and it is as if one can read the other's mind at times, even if they do not speak the same language. LOL Nice read - what a sweet picture you used for this poem.

This was absolutely beautiful. I love animals, but kittens are too cute.

it is very difficult to pen the relationship between us and the animal world ... usually, the audible words spoken do not have much depth at all, compared to the sense of presence we exchange with our dear friends. thanks.

What a sweet look at tenderness shared between a pet and a owner. A friend misplaced for a moment in time, to be found and share playful warmth.
Good Luck in the Contest.

I saw the name and had to read. I too had a cat called Japser who chose us at a cat rescue centre. We went to see another cat but he came up to us and was such a show off we had to take him home. He has gone now, he died last year, but I wish you all the love with your Japser that we had with ours. Niaish for sharing with us here.

These short stories/prose pieces are really nice, I'm enjoying them! Thanks for sharing, I like topics relating to animals and animal welcare, I believe we can all be equal.
-
Good write, yes those pets are so loving and can fill in the void of lonliness. A few typos I noticed. Change "new" to "knew" on line 6 and on the same line " tiered" should be "tired" line 4 "today"? question mark needs to be inside of quotation marks. Thanks for sharing and keep writing.

That's sweet. I don't really see how this is a poem, as I don't find it poetic at all, more like a splurge of emotion which doesn't equate poetry, but that's just my own opinion.
That said, props for rescuing a shelter animal! My Border Collie came from a shelter, and she's the best dog I'll ever have. ^.^
