~ Because of My Mommy and Daddy's Love ~





~ Amid the many simple devotions ...
and sweeter feelings of tenderness,
and my Mommy and Daddy's
certain notions of freedom
they carry for me-
and visions of peace ... ~

~ Of these many things I have known-
upon the cosy softness of my bedding
and amid the quiet of the darkness,
and now soaring aloof the wonders
of the Fathers grace ...
within the open freedom
of the evening sky's-
beneath the starry night. ~

~ My heart has been met
with this simple thought to welcome me ...
and amid this one emotion while my soul in motion ...
begins to rise- as I dream ... I lay alone here ...
amid the shimmer of this starry scene ...
as one open heart resting gently in place ...
and all the while ... I know my Mommy and Daddy,
are standing by, and so I thank God today ...
because I know- I know my Mommy and Daddy ... they love me...
and so ... because of this- again ... ~

I only wrote this for this one reason, in the hopes that this would be read often to a baby, and that he or she would grow up knowing it ...

I wrote this for a 15 line contest ... and because for many years lost ... In my absence ... I did not know this ...

    Oh that is the sweetest thing. Thank you very much james. It is a pleasure to once more have an entry from you. You are a very talented artist as I am sure you already know. I enjoy reading your poetry very much. This selection here is beautiful. It is so soft and light hearted and it makes me want to go and hold a baby and read this over and over and over again. It just sets that kind of mood where you are sitting in a rocking chair with them, speaking softly trying to lull them to sleep. This would make a perfect short story. :]

    definitely pulled tears from me... this was so beautiful. to have parents that are there and love you is a precioaus gift... good for everyone to remember when they get on our nerves... but seriously... them for giving us life and making sure we are loved is... well, i can never thank mine enough.

    If only all children could know that kind of love given by their parents we would have less troubled kids those that get in trouble or hurt them selves or others. Parents are the one's who are suppose to give the child everything they need to feel loved and cared for.

    This is a touching and telling write and a great take on the prompt. It is so true that a parents' unconditional love, or lack of it, affects us for the rest of our life. If we received it we feel trusting and secure, and if not we may feel wary of others and insecure. Nice job! Blessings, Patty

    I read this and thought it beautiful, though I would place line breaks in different places to strengthen it and also give it physical beauty. Once again I do not think the background is original so I cannot judge you on that. thank you for the entry

    This is pretty good... but it's not exactly to an unborn child... I'm not exactly sure what to say about it... You can put another entry in for an unborn baby... I'll gladly take it. hah. Congrats on your honorable mention there. Keep up your good work.
