Even a broken clock is right twice a day

Hold back the clichés and mediocre metaphors
Give me something raw and real and down to the core
Like how the ocean and the sky always seem to look the same
How prince charming is an average guy with an average name

If I knew any better, it would be July in winter
The television is telling me about global warming,
Floods in the gulf, and that there’s always children starving
People say, “I try” and they think they’re so charming

They always say cars will fly someday
That we can travel through time and clone ourselves gay
By the way, who are “they”?
Who are they to tell me what to eat, dress, and say?
When in five years, they were wrong in the first place

I guess a metaphor or two can keep you in check
Like the king on a chess board dancing around to survive
So the next time you watch the news, think twice
While the world is ending in fire and ice

What did you think
