He asked
me where the bunny ears went
the chocolate ones that were bent,
I said, I didn't eat them.
Then he asked
where the eggs had gone,
he'd just had them by the phone,
I said, I didn't eat them.
Then he asked
where is the basket that was there,
sitting right there beside my chair?
I said, I didn't get it!
Then he asked,
Did it sprout two legs and run
from this place ,to another one?
I said, I didn't get it!
With a huff, I left the room
while looking, he puffed and fumed,
saying, I'll bet she didn't get it,
ha!
In a hurried haste,
under the covers I placed,
those little crinkle papers of evidence
keeping watch for his presence.
That night as bedtime tolled,
he yelled out , Oh no!
He'd found them with a cringe
those little papers of pinkish tinge!
So with fingers crossed behind my sides,
I said, I'm sorry my sweetie pie
I couldn't help it!
I ate them!
