The Hallucinogenic Operation

Lobotomize, castrate and ostracize
the dead.  Lazarus died in a ghost-filled head
and a hallucination of the next extinction
Tear out the tumor, find the paranoia
dripping behind gray eyes, diseased eyes
Life is found best on an operating table
waking life in unstable dreams
unable to cope with surreality

Raise the tide from the grave
stigmatized, crucified and revelations realized,
reaped and reamed, deemed dead in deep sleeps
of paralysis and psychosis
Jesus found on the operating table
a stable and a brigade, a warfare made
with numb nightmares and medicated prayers

Cut open the scar, a writhing heart
coated in maggots.  Dr. Thodt brought death
Breath lost, dead heart in rotten chest
Treatment's needed.  Tied up and thrown down

Is this the moment or the memory
to believe the rapture and the ruptured
heart.  This is the time to see
life in dust, while rust
spills from rusty wounds and
coffee spoons.

Did you know it all
and did you know the minute
the finite cry, the crawling of the fly
against a white-washed wall
before it falls with a whimper

bangs do disturb the silence
bangs do disturb the memory
Slip into the coma
on the table
and slip into the hallucination

slip in, slip out
and I am Othello
and I cry the world
I cry like the child
I am Othello

Ruptured vein bleeds.  See the world
in shades of gray and touch the window
Did you hear what the larks had to say
before the world ended

the world ended last night
in cups of cold coffee

The Holocaust felt like Heaven
with the divine comedy of
God
playing dice with the world

Slip on the table
and now the black fog chokes
like burnt toast
and the murder of Michelangelo

Did you murder Michelangelo
in a dream of system synonyms
and systematic symptoms
of the coming disease
Sins dissolve skin and
insanity is the gravity
to the soil's embrace

Deny Lazarus, with horns carved from
obsidian
Let him choke on the oblivion
and don't disturb the butterfly

Red line, flat line
I
I
I am the rise and fall of Athens
and I am the crater
the mountain and the savior
I am not you

God is dead
