The well and the lighthouse

October.
November.
December.
And not a word.
Only the wind weeping your name.

Nights, screaming nights.
Scratching the days that have passed on the wall
Counting the stars that have fallen
And when dawn breaks I dare not look at the sun
For fear it will reveal the truth.

It is as if you never existed. For them.
Your memory like a chain to my heart
Unbroken.
And me, a well dry and bottomless.

October.
November.
December.
My body, a prison.
Forced to walk, to breathe, to live.
My mind a torture of middle ages
Pressing rewind until the button stops working.

Days, empty days.
Dragging like a corpse around this cemetery of town.
Letting the rain soak my barren insides.
And when sunset comes I dare not close my eyes
For fear that the nightmare will return and haunt me.

January.
February.
Months whose name I forget.
I swim in this amber sea letting the current drown me.
A lighthouse stands in the shore
Reaching his light like ropes to catch me.

“Bella!”
Edward…
“Jacob!”
My hair flowing like wolves running down a valley.
My skin paler next to his russet colored.
I hide inside his arms, inside his heart.
I let him touch me, heal me, reach me. I let him…
I cannot draw away now, not into the dark again.

This is fantastic. You really capture all the emotions and the thought process that bella was going through. It was very enjoyable to read, both because of how well you tied it into the story and simply because it is very well written. Good job and good luck!

    Beautiful

    Welcome to the contest!

This was one of my favorite parts of the story. You portray it so well:

"My mind a torture of middle ages
Pressing rewind until the button stops working."

How often we have all felt that way at some time or other. Bravo and good luck.
