One Last Thing

Isn't funny how candles on a lake never quite flicker the way they did for us?

Your blue eyes will always hold my heart
&& Maybe you weren't here forever;;
But you always told me,
'Eternity is what you make it'.

You looked so pale against hospital sheets.
Not a thing like Juliet
&& I guess only movie stars have pink cheeks in the end.
You always promised me,
'The end is never the end'.

Baby you know I would've hugged away the pain,
but even french kisses couldn't win my heart back.
&& you always whispered,
'Until the day I die'.
What now?

I'll always remember,
Eternity is what you make it.

    Wow! So deep and beautiful.
    Really felt it.
    There were some major lines that really got under my skin in this one. Especially: "&& I guess only movie stars have pink cheeks in the end." -- powerful words.
    So great! well done
    Thanks for entering and good luck

    Oh my goodness, this is heart-wrenching!!

    I am so sorry for your loss.

    You really expressed what it seems you needed to in this write. Is is so full of memories and emotion.

    I agree with the truth written in these lines too:

    You looked so pale against hospital sheets.
    Not a thing like Juliet
    && I guess only movie stars have pink cheeks in the end.

    I'm sure that must have been so hard for you to watch.

    Excellent write from the heart!

    Good luck in the contest!!

    This poem is really strong and painful, and emotional to the point that I am not sure that 'beautiful' is the word that I am looking for. Still, it is really well written, and raw. But that is what pain is, after all.
    Good luck and God Bless
