I finally got to see her pictures.
I can tell she is brilliant
[her eyes gave her away instantly].
And I know she’s not mine;
she’s not mine.
But I can see her entire future in perfect succession.
I can see how amazingly beautiful
this one little body already will become.
And her daddy will hate it.
But if I know one thing,
it’s that she’ll never understand how loved she is.
Because there’s irrationality
in how much perfection I see in those
tiny hands.
And she saved me in every sense of that word
by being here.
Elizabeth Lyric Lennon Lewis...
I owe my life to you.
And I’ll return it one grain at a time.
Author notes
This is a sort of halfway poem to give to my darling little everything, Elizabeth Lyric Lennon Lewis.
I look forward to seeing her grow up to be the beautiful woman I know she will be.
I already love you more than words could tell you.
Ever since I can remember I been workin' these ho's.

I think I missed a whole lot while I was gone away from the pages of AllPoetry....
I love tribute poems, no matter how well they are penned the thing that stands out the most, is the unconditional love. The selflessness.
Hugs,
Shirley
