Between Two Dawns

An abyss and vacant fingertips
skim over the shadowed illusions
of a soft embrace
that denies the emptiness of a pale-eyed farewell.

A tear settles in the meaningless pool of a heart
numbed within a glassy stare,

a gaze casts a downward sigh upon a dark palette
offering but color-dimmed shades
to paint the world
in desolate tones of loneliness.

I find solace in ethereal heavens
until, living and longing once again,

I raise my lips to greet new promises,
querying with a soulful countenance
for the depths of another to lose my aimless wanderings in,

seeking at the airports, in the hotels,
on the freeway, within the concert halls
longing to be reborn in the eyes of another
whose pleas trail in fragments of like dream-shattered disappointments,

to once again welcome warm the rays of such a sun over the horizon,
offering a beating rose in return,
painting splashes of color on a canvas of reawakened passions
with tempered spirit,

until the next twilight subdues the hues with loving, soft whispers
and the darkness again arrives as a welcome friend,

nestled between two dawns…

do you still have the original of this somewhere, we need either the original poem or the coments given by the judges to be able to judge you based on your re-write. Please get back to me on that.

I'm sorry if I wasn't clear on that, if you no longer have the original w/ our notes I will keep that into concideration.

    Thanks!
