the pain will go away
Maybe if I'm strong enough,
I can make it through the day.
Maybe if I try enough,
I can forget that tragedy.
All about that little boy,
who fought against his sickness so boldly.
Maybe if I laugh enough,
I can smile through the tears.
As I remember that little trooper,
Who never showed his fears.
Maybe if I believe enough,
I will see him again someday,
I will see that smiling little boy,
who leukemia dragged far away.
Author notes
My name is Shannon Green, and this poem is about a little boy who was like my brother, and about 3 years ago, he died of leukemia. (a kind of cancer) I still feel pain from the experiance, and I channeled it into this poem. This one I chose for the contest.
The poem "Lost" was my favorite. So good.

You almost had me in tears. That is so sad. I am so sorry for your loss. But thank you for sharing it and entering my contest

Personally no matter the tears it never got better. Faking happiness will get you in more trouble then showing your sandess.

Just a quick comment to say thanks for entering this into my contest, sorry you didnt win but obviously there can only be three trophies given, which is a shame cause in this contest there deserved to be alot more winners! xxx

This is a very good poem for someone so young to have written. you can have the hope of seeing your friend again..if you place your trust in Christ...it's free gift.

Aww, how sad, this was such a sweet lament. I'm truly sorry for your loss.

Poetry is a great outlet. Especially when you can share it in a forum like this and help others who are going through the same thing. This is a beautiful and touching piece. Good luck.

Awww this is so sad... I'm sorry that this happened. I can't believe how horrible it would be. I used to look after a guy in my class who has learning difficulties, a stutter and a disorder than will make him die ultimately young... I think about him lots and lots now wondering how he is. I wish I could've said goodbye to him but never got the chance, I dunno if he's alive still or not
. His innocence soothed me.

This poem has sent chills across my body. I am rather speechless really. This is very deep and meaningful. What is the little boy's name, if you don't mind me asking...You don't have to answer if you do not want to. But i am sure that he is looking down on you and he is so happy that you devoted such a piece to him. It is sweet and very touching. Thank you and best luck to you Shannon Green. :]
