I am a Reason!

A change in my life is coming, just like the coming of spring
I'm walking and talking this change, and finding new songs to sing.

I'm not alone on the journey, through darkness, I am protected.
Each breath I breathe is mated, my birth and death-breath--connected.

I'm going to love like monsoons and dream like the artesian well
Invest in freedoms of heaven and unshackle the bindings of hell.

I won't let fear's friends stop me. I'll stare demons straight in the eye
Sorrow will bank future tears, savings for when demons cry!

This universe unfolds forever. Each seed nurtured will grow.
Mountains are moved by mere thought. I know more than I know that I know.

I'll take each moment as it comes. I'll savor each night and day.
And if I get pulled to my knees, I'll just bow my head and I'll pray!

My steps are bold and with purpose, like cycles of each passing season
As I draw nearer the firmament, I'm learning that I am a reason!

Oh. This is a very uplifting poem that you have going on in here. It sounds like you have gone through some struggles in your life and you've now reached a point where you feel like you can take them on and tackle them to the ground. I think that's great! I know I can feel overwhelmed sometimes too and it's great to feel like you have the answer or a reason.

    Oh wow.

This piece is timely for me because I work with the terminally ill. Just yesterday a friend's mother passed away. I am sure that he would appreciate this piece as will my minister. They are going through a lot right now.

This is a truly inspirational write and so many people need to read it and take it into their hearts. I love the line, "I know more than I know that I know." There is always so much more in us than we normally give ourselves credit for.

I am in love with the message that "each breath I breathe is mated, my birth and death-breath--connected."

We are a flowing stream that reaches its end and then spills into an ocean. We are a part of the whole and we are reasons. Each drop counts.

Wish I had more stars to give.

    Joyce

PS. I have a contest. I would love for you to enter because I know it would be a terrific poem, though outside your box.

Two things came immediately to my mind when I read this. The first from John Mayer Continuum cd. The song is "The Heart of Life", The line is "Fear is a friend who's misunderstood" there is so much truth in that. Here is a young man who knew and understood this at such an early age...here I am just learning it. LOL.....
The other is by Goethe. "Whatever you can do,or dream you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it."
In your poem you are expressing both...
I agree with Chuck, but mostly what it is in my head anyway is meter. Your choice of words and your expression of thought and desire are not only clearly expressed, they are brilliant. Definitely an enjoyable read! Thank you for your notes, your thoughts and your prayers.
    Love always,
    ~Michelle~

    Good

I think you could polish this a bit and have a terrific poem. Just a bit of elbow rub here and there.

As some of your writing is personal I hope this insiteful one reflects the easing of the ripples in your life and the calm of still waters entering your soul. Keep smiling, we all hope to read more from you.
