Blue Light

My liquefaction flows
through nerves and synapses
cooling heated thoughts,
lapping emotion's shores.

Some say I am an angel's gift
to nurture understanding;
others that my music matches notes to mood.
Artists paint my shades of twilight
trailing across a sunset-streaked sky.

I haunt the sad and soothe their pain,
enchant them with love's longing.
Deeper than Egypt's deepest skies,
softer than the moon's dark bed of stars,
I am imagination's robe
flowing to eternity.
My name is Indigo.

The prompt is Indigo
in solid form.

This has such a lovely feel to it.
The line I love the best is, "..I am imagination's robe
    flowing to eternity.."

    Ahhh, these lines:

    "Deeper than Egypt's deepest skies,
softer than the moon's dark bed of stars,
    I am imagination's robe
    flowing to eternity."

beautiful words to spark the imagination. Such a lovely and smooth flowing verse. I did enjoy this very much.

Best of luck in the judging. ~Pamela

I enjoyed the personification and the ending line was the perfect summation. The poem is soft and gentle with beautiful imagery, particularly "I am imagination's robe flowing to eternity". Good luck in this contest. Peace, Liz

Dear Grams, I don't know how to say it better than those before me have thus far. I love the flow of this wonderful piece you have penned here. The comparison of the colors and the celestial bodies that filled this piece were breathtaking. I also love how you personified it also. It gave it a little added extra there. The verbiage is elegant and created lovely imagery for my mind's eye to behold. Thank you for sharing the gift of your illustrious pen with all of us and best wishes in this round. Love and hugs from your grandaughter, Joyce

This is very fluid and soft.
I especially found the comparisons of
skies, moon, stars to be beautiful.
Then too, the emotion peeks through when
you associate the colour with sadness
and haunting memory of love. Blue

    captured the spirit

Yes, you have captured the spirit of indigo so vividly. Your poem is succinct and and gives the essence of "imagination's robe."

An 'angels gift'...wonderful...I am adopting indigo as one of my favourite colours now.
