Unique

Think the unthinkable,
Live the unsurvivable.
Just for once why don't you try to be real. Unique like you think you are.

Get up, stand up and stand out.
You've been pushed aside for far too long,
I'm tired of seeing you beat.

You've found it uncomfortable,
then you've found it to be home,
And now you don't even know if your legs will support you.

This weakness has come to define you,
The lax spirit of apathy will ever remind you,
To complain and build yourself higher walls of pain.

You think this is strange,
You think you're something special because you hurt?
Think again. You are nothing special.

We all have pain, we all falter,
We all ache and wish to see beyond the gates to the muck,
The pain we feel is just that, pain we ALL feel.

The truly special, the unique,
Are not the pigs in the pen, but the son who returns in humility,
They are the ones who will reign.

When you begin to wipe the mud away and see the dirt beneath,
When you begin to realize what you've been eating so selfishly,
When you are disgusted and prepared to return to dad, then you are on the right road.

So rise from the mud and begin the trek home,
Find father's waiting arms and the robe and ring ready.
The feast will be grand, but nothing will compare to finally being different.

It is what you wanted all along.

It is what I wanted all along.

That was so passionate. You really drew me in by the sheer force of your words. I like how you tied it to the story of the prodigal son, but it was kind of confusing at first who's perspective you were. Nice piece.
