Looking Past the Shadows

I look past the shadows
Something I’m looking to find.
I search past the willows,
Where sorrows are left behind.
I search past the river,
Where they go for to pray,
And sigh in sadness,
Wasting away the day.
I look past the deepness,
The depths resounding in Grace,
And looking past the hellish host,
I finally see your face.

Your face once held great laughter,
Your eyes keep me alive,
But now you see past my face
Into my soul, you dive.
I walk on what I thought was solid ground,
But as you walk past,
I see that nothing in this life,
Will ever truly last.
Standing on my own,
I know that it’s all dreams,
But truth has a way of lying,
And nothing’s as it seems.

Those dark blue pools,
The ones that got me at first,
Now seem to hold the darkest cold,
And now they are the worst
Of what I can remember
Of before your changing day,
And I look past this new you,
To try to find another way.
I want to remember you as you were,
To get to my happy place,
Where everything is beautiful
And I can see your true face.

Please tell me what you think

    Haunting

I felt like it just needed a little more punch at the end...I guess the phrase "happy place" just kind of made me laugh and got me off track. Maybe you could think of an alternative? I think the last stanza needs the most work. I like the theme, overall. Like I said, it was haunting. it grabbed me from the beginning. I think it just needs some fine tuning...like making sure your tense doesn't change from one line to another and things like that. Otherwise, I see potential here. Thanks for sharing!!
