We were waiting in our car, parked
at the gas station; the one where
all footlong Subway sandwiches
cost five dollars every day
Across from the high school,
when a large dragonfly began
fluttering in front of the windshield;
his four translucent striped wings
Fluttering in front of us, unusually,
relentlessly; flying away briefly then
returning to wave his wings some more
as if trying to tell us something.
Later, at home; several messages,
on the answering machine and
in emails, from an old friend
attempting to reach us.

This is amazingly done. It's very symbolic and you've given me a nice image to imagine.
Good luck in the contest!
