The Riddler and Joker, those kings of the pun,
Such a fabulous pairing of minds!
Despite their best efforts with hours to go,
For Aprils great party could nothing new find.
The conundrums too simple, the humour fell flat,
And poor jokers buttonhole had just fried the cat.
The punch was plain dreadful to sip or behold
Disaster was looming, if all things were told.
"Mass murder with ice cream?"
"No way, too flakey!"
"A large nasty bomb?"
"Oh dear, hardly new!"
And the thought of that toxic gas all over again,
Truly made 'em feel blue
So there they sat plotting, with tears in their eyes,
A sight you could barely bear see.
It might have helped somewhat, nay, rather a lot
If at least they both could agree.
"Lets burn down the city,?"
"I’d rather a flood!"
"Release radiation?"
"That’s always a dud!"
The years of their reign had their evil depleted,
Those infamous two were as good as defeated.
In the end, tis a pity, they lay on the floor,
With a pile of wine bottles to hand.
Not a death nor an illness - not even a sneeze,
Became of any grand plan.
When sobriety beckoned they opened their eyes,
And glanced at the clock on the wall,
With horror it showed they had slept through the day..
Making them the prize April Fools.

Delightful party with just the two, they had some really serious thoughts that would have been tremendous. I am glad that they got drunk and didn't carry through with any of these plans. This was fun to read and I like the background with it too.
