Dark stone walls,
Overgrown with weeds,
Surround a young girl.
Her mind impenetrable;
Face locked behind an inscrutable mask.
Emotions a stormy sea
But those cannot be found,
For they are locked away
Behind iron chains.
Hidden in the dark,
She opens her locks;
Lets down the gate to her mind;
And takes off the mask.
She sits there,
In a corner of the darkened room,
Preparing herself for bed;
The nightmares that are soon to come.
To come and torment her
To make her wake in the night
Hearing her own screams
Of her death.
She sits in that corner
Of the darkened room
Peering into the darkness.
She tries not to think about it.
Not to loose herself in the pain,
But she has nothing to distract herself.
And the pins and needles are right there,
Calling to her.
Telling her they will help numb the pain.
Persuading her that
They will keep her mind off of everything.
With nothing left to distract her,
She's overcome by the pain
Of what she must think of.
With no one to turn to,
Nothing left to do,
She succumbs to their calls...

Wow, a very powerful poem indeed. You are very good at conjuring mental images and painting pain in words. Keep up the good work.
